• CURTIS FOSTER: GROUP PALM READING Guinness World Record

Sandstorm – Darude

Curtis Foster Attempts to Set Guinness World Record for Largest Group Palm Reading.

Bringing people together to raise awareness for:

  • Consent
  • Oxytocin
  • Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)
Palm Reading involves Consent, Oxytocin, & Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)

The act of Palm Reading, whether giving or receiving one, involves 3 crucial occurrences:

  1. Consent
  2. Oxytocin
  3. Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)

1. Consent:

  • To give assent, as to the proposal of another; agree: synonymassent.
  • Physical, Emotional, Mental
  • The act of a legal adult agreeing to or giving permission to do something.
  • Consent can be expressed verbally or non-verbally:
    • Verbal consent: The clearest and safest way to give consent, examples include saying “yes” or “that sounds great”.
    • Non-verbal consent: This can include head nods, thumbs up, making eye contact, or touching someone.
  • Consent is important in many contexts, including sexual consent, law, medicine, and research.
  • Consent must be informed, voluntary, and revocable.
    • Informed: Consent is based on knowledge of what the action involves and its likely consequences.
    • Voluntary: Consent is not coerced by force, threats, or intimidation. Silence is not consent.
    • Revocable: Consent can be given and withdrawn at any time.

2. Oxytocin

  • The positive, feel-good hormone.
  • A hormone produced in the hypothalamus and released into the bloodstream by the pituitary gland.
  • Like endorphins or serotonin, Oxytocin is a type of hormone in your body that promotes positive feelings.
  • Oxytocin is the “Love” and “Cuddle” hormone.
  • Decreases stress and anxiety levels and can have a positive impact on social behaviors related to relaxation, trust, and overall psychological stability.
  • Oxytocin production and secretion is controlled via a positive sensory feedback loop. This means the hormone causes an action that stimulates more of its own release. (For example, when a newborn suckles, mechanoreceptors in the nipple and the cervix are activated, creating a positive sensory feedback loop, which leads to the additional release of oxytocin in the brain.)
  • Oxytocin produces positive sensory feedback loops, which leads to the additional release of oxytocin.
  • Palm Reading, exercise, martial arts training, music, singing – especially in a group, touch, massage, cuddling, making love, meditation, and hugging lead to higher levels of Oxytocin and a greater sense of well-being.
  • Four feel-good hormones: dopamine, endorphins, oxytocin, and serotonin.

3. Social & Emotional Learning (SEL):

  • Emotional Intelligence: The ability to be aware of and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others.
  • Social Intelligence: involves being able to use Emotional Intelligence to manage your relationships and behavior, especially in challenging situations.
  • Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) can be important for success in both personal and professional life.
  • Some skills that are part of SEL include Stress management, Resilience, Conflict resolution, Influencing skills, Teamwork and collaboration, and Building trust.
  • Social & Emotional Intelligence can be developed through a process called social and emotional learning (SEL), which also helps children develop empathy and problem-solving skills.
  • Research shows that students who manage their emotions perform better academically, socially, and have fewer disciplinary issues.
Palm Reading beautifully and ORGANICALLY incorporates ALL of the ABOVE.
